If you have multiple computers in your care, it may be difficult to keep track of each machine, its programs and other components. With Network Inventory Expert, you can acquire any information about a remote computer, from hardware to various details about the operating system. The software is designed for quick and easy procedures, so you will not have any kind of difficulties with its functions.

Network Inventory Expert works on Windows 7 and earlier editions, down to Windows 98. The setup file is only 1.17 MB and you can swiftly install the software, in numerous languages. There are no locked functions, but you can use them only for 30 days, after which you must buy a license.

The interface is very easy to understand and it will not take long to study its layout and functions. Remote computers are listed on the upper half of the window, while their inventories are displayed, on separate tabs, on the lower half. You can also find numerous details, next to each listed computer. The software displays a computer's IP address, host and user name, operating system, product ID and key, processor, physical memory and much more. What's more, the software allows you to add your own columns and add comments.

While a computer is selected, you can view its network adapters, local accounts, shared resources, system hotfixes, startup programs, installed software and running processes. It doesn't take much effort to add and scan a remote computer. You can either type in a computer's host name, on a separate window or add multiple computers by specifying an IP range. Alternatively, you can add new machines from a file, in plain text format or click a button and let the program search your network for remote computers. Once added, you just need to select a computer and click a button to scan it or use a different option to scan all computers.

Network Inventory Expert allows you to generate reports and export them in various formats. You may create reports with information about the operating system, installed software and installation count, and information about running processes. This can be done for single or multiple computers and you may choose what information to include. Reports can be saved as files in HTML format, XLS, CSV and other formats.

Pros

You can acquire any information about a computer on your local network. You can add and scan computers in a few moments, without installing Network Inventory Expert on remote machines. The software gives you the possibility of generating detailed reports and exporting them, in various formats.

Cons

Although you don't have to install the program on remote computers, you may need to make a few configurations, regarding permissions. Any information you need about a remote computer is provided in a simple and elegant fashion, on Network Inventory Expert interface.
